Embrace the Martian

Last night I saw the greatest basketball player to have ever lived get inducted in the Hall of Fame. I had CHILLS the entire time! I can’t describe it but I was overcome with joy.

When I was was kid I loved to hate MJ because he was just TOO good. He was a walking highlight reel. Every year I watched him single handedly eliminate my Miami Heat from the playoffs and then go on to win any/every honor basketball has to offer.

My pride wouldn’t allow me to say it at the time but Michael Jordan is my hero.

I’ve worn most of his shoes (I still have the boxes), he is in all my favorite commercials, I collected all his cards. Mike taught me what love is and made me believe I could fly. I played improv through a fever because I knew he would and if you see my tongue out…you know why.

I take his words to heart.

“I play to win, whether during practice or a real game. And I will not let anything get in the way of me and my competitive enthusiasm to win. “

“I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed. “
